Data Engineer

Build reliable pipelines and data models that turn complex information into useful software for planning, resilience and protective security.

The role

As a Data Engineer at Nordan AI, you will develop the pipelines and data models that support our products, analytics and AI applications.

You will work with product and engineering to integrate new sources, improve data quality and keep production pipelines reliable.

Build and maintain data pipelines that ingest, transform and integrate data from APIs, databases and external sources.
Design data models and datasets that support product features, analytics and AI applications.
Improve data quality through validation, automated tests and monitoring.
Optimise queries and pipelines for performance, reliability and maintainability.
Work with the team to define data requirements and document sources, transformations and access controls.
Use agentic coding tools to develop and maintain data systems, coordinating multiple agents and reviewing and testing their output.

Strong Python and SQL skills, with experience building and operating data pipelines.
A solid understanding of relational databases, data modelling and ETL or ELT workflows.
Experience integrating APIs and working with structured and unstructured data.
Experience working with agentic coding tools such as Codex and Claude Code, including breaking down tasks, coordinating multiple agents and integrating their changes.
Proficiency with Git and GitHub workflows, including branches, pull requests, code review and automated checks.
Good software engineering habits: automated tests, readable code and clear documentation.
The ability to investigate data quality issues, debug production failures and explain technical decisions.

Experience with workflow orchestration, cloud data platforms, geospatial data or graph data models.
